My name is Kathleen Thompson. I own Main Street Yoga in Mansfield, PA.
The idea for this blog started last year during my studio’s annual “30 Days for $30 April Yoga Challenge.” There were quite a few “yogarians” who wanted to participate in the Challenge but could not do so either because they lived too far away, or their life situations would not allow for it.
Instead, they practiced at home and used the “Comment” blocks in my blog “Inspiration Location” to talk about their practice and to check in with me every day.
But Inspiration Location was littered with a lot of my personal life so I wanted to create a clean, uncluttered space where people could come and just talk about yoga.
Hence, Virtual Yogarians.
At first I planned it as a hangout for the people who were not doing the Challenge in the studio to come and “talk amongst themselves.” But then the studio participants wanted in on this goodness too, so now this is the venue where anybody can come and post entries, comment, or just lurk.
When you are doing something like a 30 Day Yoga Challenge, it can be hard to stay motivated. I think it’s really helpful to know what others are doing, struggling with, and enjoying. At the end of our practice we are often unable to talk because we are kind of “out of it” for a while. But then later, we “come to” as it were and we want to talk about it. We need to talk about it!. We want to compare notes, exchange tips, gush, brag or even complain.
So here’s the place to do that.
The easiest way to participate is to just use the comment area. I intend to post something every day during the month of April, even if it’s to say, “I’m fried and going to bed!” So there will always be a something here, even if it’s not quality. If you are a registered “Virtual” (and by now you’ve gotten your invitation), you must at least comment here every day to be in on the drawings at the end. I am keeping a separate chart for you in the back of the studio.
But I have set this up as a “Multi-User” blog, so if you want to create and post your own entries, and even post your own pictures, you can do that. All you have to do is email me at:
mainstreetyoga@gmail.com
and I’ll add you to the Authors list. If you were an author last year, you are good to go, no need to re-register.
I really hope this becomes a lively place to talk about yoga and life. I am excited about this April Challenge! Let’s get this party started!
Namaste!
Kath
